Farleigh Court Golf Club

More than just a golf club and where visitors are always welcome

The beginning

Little more than fourteen years ago 350 acres of parkland in the Surrey greenbelt on the edge of the London and East Surrey border and about 5 miles from Croydon Town Centre was overgrown and unused.  For 700 years the land had been owned by Merton College, one of the ancient Oxford Colleges, and in 1993 it granted a 199 year lease to a Japanese company, Fuji Country Club.  Some four years later a magical transition from farmland to modern golf course had been achieved and Farleigh Court Golf Club was born.  The club opened on 23 June 1997 and is now owned and operated by Oxford Hotels & Inns Ltd.

The Golf Course

The course was designed by former Ryder Cup captain and renowned coach John Jacobs OBE, who utilised the natural features of the 350 acres, including two landscaped wooded valleys, to produce 27 holes, each with a unique challenge to golfers of all levels. 

The greens were built to USGA specifications using traditional bents and fescues and irrigation to tees and greens is via a borehole on the course.  This has meant that in the eleven years, during which about 35,000 rounds of golf have been played each year, temporary greens have never had to be used.  Several trees, planted during the development process, are now maturing and are providing protection from very low scores in place of the penal rough of the early years. As well as a solid Membership base, the course and clubhouse are an attractive venue for Golf Societies and Corporate days, which are welcome 7 days a week.

Unlike many other golf clubs, you don’t have to be introduced by, or know a Member to enjoy the facilities at Farleigh Court – in fact you don’t even have to be a golfer

The relaxed friendly Clubhouse and fully stocked bar are open 7 days a week, from dawn until dusk.  The extensive blackboard menu and Chefs daily specials are available throughout the week.  The popular Sunday Carvery has gone from strength to strength, being renowned for the fresh high quality food and great home cooking.  In addition to this allocated tables, crisp table linen and spectacular views across the golf course make for a truly relaxing Sunday afternoon.  The large patio area provides a tranquil setting and a great place to enjoy a drink or two during the late light summer evenings, whilst watching the sun go down.

All types of celebrations including, Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthday Parties etc, are well catered for at Farleigh Court. The function rooms have been completely refurbished to an extremely high standard and our team of professional friendly staff, whose wealth of knowledge you can draw and rely upon, will work closely with you in tailor making an event to meet with your exact requirements.
